In 2005 the Commission was asked by community leaders from the Altadena-Pasadena area to evaluate the potential role, if any, of the County's social services in helping to reduce the very serious gang problem plaguing the area. In response, the Commission formed the Ad-Hoc Committee on At Risk Youth. The purpose of the Committee is to determine whether County social services can impact the gang problem. The Committee meets on an "as needed basis."
