What services are offered?
Provides care at home as an alternative to institutionalized health care. Services provided include,
but are not limited to homemaker, home health, personal care, respite, environmental modifications,
transportation, skilled nursing and communication aides.
Who can be covered?
The DDS Waiver is limited to Developmentally disabled children and adults who live at home and
meet the admission criteria for an intermediate care facility for the developmentally disabled. The
individual must be ineligible to Medi-Cal due to excess property or have a share-of-cost. A referral
from a DDS Regional Center is required.

Is there an income limit?
Free Medi-Cal is based on income after allowances for health insurance and working expenses. Parental
and/or spousal income is not considered.
Is there a property limit?
Yes, but parental and/or spousal resources are not considered.
Can an individual receive services if he/she has other health insurance?
Yes.
How much does it cost?
Nothing.
Is citizenship or legal residency required?
Yes.

Applications are made by referral from the Department of Developmental Services Regional Centers. For
