| SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING |
DESCRIPTION The Security
Officers training is a short-term (4-week) component available
only to participants who meet the qualifying criteria to be employed
in this field (see qualifying criteria below). Participants
are linked with prospective employers at the conclusion of this
training and or after they secured a guard card. The Security Officer training is available to participants who have completed JSPC, REP or Fastrak, unless otherwise recommended by the Employment Development Team (EDT). It includes 60 hours of industry related instruction and 15 hours of soft skills including job preparation workshops. The training consists of: Introduction to Laws of Arrest CASE MANAGER DUTIES Pre-screen participants to ensure they meet the qualifying criteria:
Once qualifications are determined, case managers complete a route slip to refer participants for this Short Term Training (STT). Case managers
receive enrollment confirmation from LACOE indicating whether participant
was accepted into the program. Occasionally, participants
may not be accepted after a thorough interview with LACOE during
which information that disqualifies the participant might be disclosed. In
this situation, the participant would be assigned to another component
by the case manager (Another STT, Vocational Assessment, etc.) RESULTS OTHER Tentative dates for training: LACOE staff will conduct an orientation for each training event and will be held the week before training starts, on Wednesdays and Fridays. |
