WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Image_Before and After School Programs

Before and after school programs provide education and recreation, including homework assistance, for children from first through sixth grades in a supervised, safe setting.  Children attend these programs at various public schools throughout Los Angeles County.

The program is available to eligible school-aged children based on space availability at the schools that offer before and after school care.  Children must be attending the school where the program is offered.

The preferred placement for 11 and 12-year old children in subsidized child care is in a before or after school program.

WHO RUNS THE PROGRAMS?

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and other school districts throughout Los Angeles County run the programs.

Direct care is provided by professionals:  teachers, recreational directors, and child care providers.  Staff are trained and certified in standard first aid and CPR.

FOR INFORMATION ON ENROLLMENT

If your children attend school in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), call (213) 241-7900.  If your children attend school in a different school district, call the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) at (562) 401-5335.

You can also check with your child’s school to see if a before or after school program is available there.
