The
Intergovernmental Relations Section is a part of the
Intergovernmental and Interagency Relations Division
in the Bureau of Program and Policy.
The
Section’s primary responsibility is to coordinate
the Department’s legislative activities. Priorities
of the Section include coordinating Departmental analyses
and making recommendations to advance Board Policy on all
State and Federal bills impacting programs administered
by the Department as well as on proposed State/Federal
regulations.The Section works directly with State and Federal
Administrative and Legislative staff, and may testify before
Legislative committees.
Consistent
with Board Policy, the primary objectives of the Section
are to ensure:

Adequate
funding for Department-administered programs, |

Maximum
flexibility to design programs to meet local needs, |
• |
Improvement
in the quality and availability of services for
persons served by Departmental programs. |
The
Intergovernmental Relations Section works in concert with
the County Welfare Directors Association of California
(CWDA), the California State Association of Counties (CSAC),
the National Association of Counties (NACo), the American
Public Human Services Association (APHSA) and other key
advocates to advance County positions and policy recommendations
at the State and federal levels.
The
Section is also available to provide technical assistance
and analytic support to other Divisions in the Department
on matters relating to legislation, the law, regulations
and State and Federal funding and any other issues related
to policy development. |
