Community Services Block Grant
Community Services Block Grant

Community Services Block Grants are appropriations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help communities address poverty issues. States are allocated money and are directed to fund anti-poverty nonprofit and/or public agencies statewide to address the local issues of poverty within their communities. The funding for the program is provided to Community Action Agencies (CAA's) who in turn oversee the program and monitor the services provided to the low-income population. These services include but are not limited to employment services, housing assistance, emergency and referral services, nutrition, health related services, and counseling and education. The Los Angeles County CSBG program is administered by the Department of Public Social Services.

The Los Angeles County Community Action Agency has submitted to the State, for approval, its Local Plan for L.A. County's allocation of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Stimulus Recovery Funds. The local plan is attached for public inspection.
