DPSS serves a county of 9.818,506 (US Census 2010) million residents, larger in population than 42 states; an area of 4,083 square miles, encompassing 88 cities; and the needs of an ethnically and culturally diverse community. DPSS has a caseload larger than any other jurisdiction except the States of California and New York and an annual budget of over $3 billion. DPSS has a budgeted workforce of more than 13,546 (April 2011) and serves the public at 50 local offices located throughout the County.
